Going for the Gold

an Evening with Paralympian

Lindsey Zurbrugg

a collage of paralympian Lindsey Zurbrugg

Lindsey Zurbrugg was raised in Oregon, where her core values of family, faith, and hard work were instilled and remain at the heart of who she is today.  After becoming paralyzed from an accident caused by a previously undiagnosed birth defect, she discovered wheelchair basketball and quickly fell in love with the sport and its competitiveness.  Her collegiate career began at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, where she competed with the Warhawks from 2017–2021 while earning a bachelor’s degree in health and human performance. Lindsey later transferred to the University of Alabama, where she helped lead the Crimson Tide women’s wheelchair basketball team to two national championships while earning Championship Game MVP honors. Her success at the collegiate level propelled her onto the world stage with Team USA.  She has competed in numerous international tournaments, collecting two gold medals, three silvers, and two bronzes. Her sights are now set on the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics. In addition to serving as the assistant coach for the University of Alabama women’s wheelchair basketball team, Lindsey is completing the requirements to become a Registered Dietitian.
